Kathmandu. China has demanded the immediate lifting of the US economic embargo on Cuba. China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Kong, addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and said that the US pressure and embargo on Cuba should end immediately.
According to the Chinese media Global Times, Fu expressed this opinion during the discussion on the agenda titled “The need to end the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba”.
Phule said that China will vote in favor of the draft proposal presented by Cuba under this agenda. Fu said that the illegal economic embargo and unilateral embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba has been going on for 64 years and has been tightened recently.
Although the United Nations General Assembly has been continuously discussing the proposal to end the embargo imposed by the United States on Cuba for 34 years, this matter has not been implemented.
The Chinese representative said that the Cuban people had to suffer greatly because of this situation, and despite this, they continued to resist. Phule alleged that these events also exposed the hegemonic and gangster behavior of America.
He believes that these steps are against the purpose and principles of the UN Charter and are a direct attack on international rules and basic principles of international relations.
Fu made it clear that only the people of Cuba have the right to decide the future and destiny of Cuba. “No one has the right to impose restrictions on other countries, to stop their wishes and development,” he said.
Fu expressed China’s commitment to resolutely support Cuba’s just actions to protect its national sovereignty, security and development rights. He said that China will always stand by all the just efforts for freedom and development. Global Times
