Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has named Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential Republican candidates for the 2028 presidential election.
He said that there are many influential leaders in the party and that it would be too early to announce anyone as the main contender. In an interview given to a news channel before going to a rally held in Michigan, Trump was asked who could be the candidate from the Republican Party in the 2028 election. “I can say who I have in my sights, but it’s a little early to say,” Trump said.
Mentioning the names of Vance and Rubio, he claimed that the Republican Party has a strong team of qualified leaders. He says that the Democratic Party does not have such a team.
Before leaving for Michigan to campaign, Trump also expressed his views on the Russia-Ukraine war and energy security. He said that the US oil industry will not be held hostage by military conflict. Also, he repeated his old statement that this war should not have started.
Mid-term elections in the US on November 3 will elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives and about one-third of the members of the Senate. The election will determine which party will hold the majority in both chambers, which will affect the Trump administration’s legislative agenda and the balance of power in Washington.
The mid-term elections, which take place in the middle of the four-year term of the president, are considered important for the Trump administration. According to a survey published by The Wall Street Journal in September, Trump’s approval rating dropped to 37 percent. According to the newspaper, in its survey records dating back to 1990, no incumbent president had lower approval ratings before a midterm election. ANI News
