Manm (Calikot). Karnali state government has brought the budget for the next financial year 2083/84. Karnali Province Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Rajiv Vikram Shah on Monday gave special priority to the health sector in the budget for the next financial year.

Minister Shah said that the Karnali state government has given special priority in the next fiscal year’s budget to increase the incentive allowance of women health volunteers, maternity nutrition allowance, upgrading community health centers in rural areas, maternity nutrition and rescue.

“I have continued the maternity nutrition allowance given to mothers in public health institutions”, he said, “I have increased the incentive allowance given by Karnali state government since the past to Rs.

Minister Shah said that arrangements have been made to digitize the records of every health institution and the necessary budget has been allocated to the basic hospitals run by the local level to strengthen health services with physical infrastructure by estimating the number of patients, pressure and additional services.

“Laboratory services of regional hospitals and basic hospitals will be strengthened”, he said.

Minister Shah said that necessary funds have been allocated for providing free blood to the needy and elderly citizens in hospitals of the province in coordination with the Nepal Red Cross Society and arrangements have been made to expand kidney dialysis services at District Hospital Dailekh.

“I have allocated 25 million rupees for the treatment of patients suffering from chronic diseases such as cancer, heart, kidney, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, anemia, rickets, sickle cell anemia, spinal injury, head injury, autism”, he said.

Minister Shah said that Rs 4.39 million has been allocated to continue programs such as e-health, telemedicine expert services, health camps, oncology services, burn treatment services, and the establishment and operation of emergency healthcare fund will be continued.

“In response, arrangements will be made to use the said fund. I have allocated the necessary budget to prevent tropical diseases”, he said, “I have allocated the necessary budget to provide additional services to pregnant women with complicated conditions and send them to the district/province hospital on time if necessary.”

Minister Shah said that Rs 7.3 million has been allocated for the purchase of dental service expansion equipment, purchase of biomedical equipment, purchase of other essential machinery equipment and the purchase of necessary equipment and tools for the birthing center in order to equip the hospitals and health centers in Karnali Province.

“I have allocated Rs 2.22 million to continue the effective operation of basic health centers/community health units in collaboration with local levels to provide minimum basic health services to the local residents of remote rural areas from nearby locations”, he said, “I have arranged the necessary arrangements to prepare packages for yoga, meditation, lifestyle change and psychosocial health promotion. I have arranged the necessary budget for Karnali overall health campaign to develop Karnali as a health tourism hub.”

Minister Shah said that Ayurvedic medicine production center will be strengthened to become self-sufficient in Ayurveda medicine by upgrading provincial Ayurveda hospital and research center and Ayurveda health center and necessary laws will be made to market and distribute the produced medicine as Karnali brand.

“I have allocated 641 million rupees to carry out necessary programs for the preservation and promotion of traditional knowledge skills to connect alternative medical services with the lifestyle of citizens”, he said, “In the coordination and cooperation of the federal, state, local level and related partners, I have allocated the necessary budget in preventive, curative, restorative and promotional health services programs to carry out activities such as drugs, traffic accidents, mental health, psychosocial counseling and rehabilitation, control of non-communicable diseases.”

Minister Shah said that various awareness programs, social behavior change, nutrition and treatment services will be made effective to reduce maternal, child, infant and newborn mortality.
