According to the American media “The Hill”, Trump said that Venezuela will become a prosperous country and may become the 51st state of the United States in the future. He also commented that in that case there should be an election for the governor instead of the president.
Earlier, Trump said that Venezuela sent 1 million barrels of crude oil as a gift to the United States. It is said that the oil will be processed in a refinery in Texas. It is mentioned in the news that Trump and the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also observed a tanker carrying oil in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Trump had previously commented on the proposal to make Venezuela a US state. At the beginning of this year, he said that he was seriously considering this issue. He also expressed that Canada would be made a state of America.
However, the Acting President of Venezuela, Delsey RodrÃguez, made it clear last May that her country has no plans to become a US state. She said that Venezuela will protect its integrity, sovereignty, independence and history.
Trump has also said that relations with Venezuela have improved and that large oil companies are investing billions of dollars there. He also mentioned the name of oil businessman Harold Humm, who was present in the program, while mentioning that the US is producing large quantities of oil.
