Guwahati. Five people, including a woman, were killed in a shooting at a hotel in Guwahati, Assam, India on Monday night. The incident took place during a dispute between the owner of the hotel and the person operating the hotel on lease.
According to the police, the shooting took place at Hotel Bilas Inn in front of Bora Service on GS Road at around 9 pm. The place is about two kilometers away from the Assam Police Headquarters.
Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahant told news agency PTI that six people were shot in the incident. Five of them have died and one is undergoing treatment.
According to news agency ANI, the police have arrested one person after the incident. According to Police Commissioner Mahant, a 32 bore licensed pistol was used in the incident. The police have also recovered the weapon used in the incident. Further investigation into the incident is underway. BBC
