Kathmandu. The government has made a legal provision to stop the distribution of petroleum products for 15 days and to fine lakhs of rupees to the petrol pumps that disrupt the safe sale and distribution of petroleum products.

The Nepal Oil Corporation Board of Directors has amended the regulation of petroleum product sellers and put the said provision. On the instructions of Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Gauri Kumari, the Corporation has made legal arrangements to stop fines and distribution of fuel in the regulations on Wednesday due to petrol pumps across the country.

According to the revised regulations, businessmen who close the pumps will be fined from 3 to 10 lakhs and the distribution of petrol and diesel will be stopped for 5 to 15 days, according to the personal secretariat of the Minister of Industry.

In section 29 d (1) of the seller’s regulation, a sentence has been added that “the seller should not create a situation where petroleum products cannot be obtained by making the nozzle dry”.

For the first offence, a fine of three lakhs and suspension of fuel supply for five days, a fine of six lakhs and suspension of supply for 10 days for the second offense and a fine of one million lakhs and suspension of supply for 15 days for the third offence.
