Kathmandu. The Agriculture Department has requested the farmers to arrange water drainage from paddy fields, fruit gardens, nurseries, vegetable and sugarcane fields.

The department has also called upon the farmers not to transport livestock during the rainy season after studying the changes in the weather due to the developing cyclone ‘Arnab’.

The department has alerted farmers through the National Agricultural Technology Information Center in coordination with the Center for Agricultural Communication and Human Resource Development. In order to reduce the damage caused to food crops due to adverse weather conditions, the department has informed the farmers that they have been sent an SMS notifying them not to harvest and store their crops and to exercise high vigilance.

According to the department, due to the change in the weather since Thursday, there is light to moderate rain with thunder, lightning and wind in different parts of the country and there is a possibility of heavy rain in some places till Sunday.

Based on the analysis of the Department of Water and Meteorology, the department has asked to harvest the harvested paddy three (four) days after the weather clears and the rain stops.
