Kathmandu. The farmers of the district have become worried after the weather turned unfavorable and started raining continuously at the time of ripening of paddy. As the risk of rain and hail increased when the paddy was ripe in the field, it became a problem for the farmers to harvest the crop on time and bring it home safely.

In various rural areas of the district, farmers are currently preparing to harvest and store paddy. However, since the continuous rains that have been happening since Thursday have started damaging the rice crop, the farmers are worried that their hard work will be wasted. Farmers have said that if the ripe rice has fallen in the field due to rain, the risk of the harvested rice getting wet and the grain falling has increased.

Tank Prasad Ghimire, a farmer of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-9 Lekhark, said that due to continuous rain, the ripe rice has started falling in the field. “The paddy has ripened in the field. It has been raining continuously since Thursday. Due to the rain, the ripened paddy has fallen. If it rains more, there is concern that there will be more damage to the paddy crop,” he said.

Sangita Rai, a farmer of Shadanand Municipality-4, said that after the rain fell during the main time of bringing in rice, the work of cutting, drying and storing it at home was affected.

He said that due to adverse weather conditions, it is difficult for the farmers to harvest the ripe rice in the fields and bring the harvested crops home safely. Paddy is one of the major food crops of farmers in rural areas of Bhojpur. It is seen that the hard work and investment made by the farmers for months to produce food for the family throughout the year is affected when the weather is unfavorable during the harvest.

The farmers who are preparing to harvest the paddy are now waiting for the weather to open. They are worried that if the rice in the field is cut, dried and brought in safely after the sun shines on time, the production will be damaged.
