Tehran. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai has criticized US President Donald Trump’s comments on the 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), accusing Washington of not keeping its commitments and calling for accountability for US abuses.
On the social network X, Baghai mentioned that Washington’s disdain for diplomacy has been exposed once again. President Trump never believed in the Islamabad MoU, saying it was a waste of time and exposed the thin side of diplomatic commitments.
He added, “This is not a new thing for Iran, it has long been doing the practice of reneging on its commitments with Washington and behaving in its own way when international obligations are inconvenient.”
He criticized European states and other European states for their response to Washington, saying that there is no justification for European states and other supporters to protect American abuses and protect them from accountability.
“Broken commitments cannot be excused, international law cannot be selectively enforced, and political morality in no way can absolve Washington from accountability,” he emphasized.
The comments came amid Trump’s recent statements on the conflict with Iran.
Speaking at a rally in Lubbock, Texas on Wednesday, the US president accused the US of not starting a war with Iran and accused Tehran of waging war against Washington since 1979. Claiming that the United States did not start a war with Iran, Trump said that Iran has continued its war against the United States since 1979, killing great American people and soldiers and injuring many.
He further criticized the previous American leaders for not solving this issue and mentioned that the problem should have been solved long ago but they did not have the courage or intelligence.
Addressing the question of when the war in Iran will end, Trump said, “Whenever I want this war to end, it will happen.” -ANI
