Kathmandu. The Department of Tourism has requested the tourists and mountaineers not to go to the high Himalayan region from this October 11th to 15th due to the risk of heavy rain and snow fall and avalanche in various parts of the country.

According to the weather bulletin of the Nepal Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder, lightning and gusty winds during that period. It is predicted that due to the rain, the risk of floods and landslides will increase, as well as snow storms and avalanches in the Himalayan region.

As bad weather may affect trekking and mountain climbing, the department has requested the mountaineers and hikers who have already reached there not to go to the high mountain areas to exercise caution. Also, it is requested to make a travel plan based on the updated weather information issued by the official body.

Similarly, the department has appealed to the relevant agencies to provide easy and continuous treatment services for health problems (acute mountain sickness) in the Himalayan regions such as Khumbu, Manang and health institutions located in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
