Kathmandu. Due to the low pressure system developing in the Bay of Bengal, there is a possibility of rain in various parts of Nepal and snowfall in the high Himalayan region from November 11 to 15, according to the Department of Water and Meteorology. The effect of the system will start to be seen from Wednesday and it is expected to increase further from Thursday.
According to Hari Prasad Dahal, meteorologist of the department, there is a possibility of cloud cover in different parts of the country and scattered rain in some places from Wednesday. He said that there may be snowfall in some places in the high Himalayas.
Chances of rain will increase in hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces from Thursday afternoon. Meteorologist Dahal informed that the effect of the system will be more visible from Thursday night to Friday and Saturday afternoon. During this period, rain is expected to affect the eastern parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. In the western region, there is a possibility of relatively less impact.
According to the changes in the direction and intensity of the system, the impact on Nepal may also be different, according to meteorologists. It is requested to exercise caution as there is a possibility of heavy rain in some places and there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in the high Himalayan areas.
It is estimated that the impact of snowfall will be more especially in the areas around Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu mountains. Due to the rain, there is a risk of landslides in the hilly areas and the road traffic may be affected, so the meteorologist suggests that you should be careful while going on a journey. Farmers have also been asked to be cautious as it is time to harvest and bring in rice. As far as possible, before the onset of adverse weather from November 11th to 15th, Meteorologist Dahal has suggested to harvest ripe rice and other crops and store them in a safe place.
Likewise, those planning to trek and visit the high Himalayan and hilly areas have been requested to travel only after understanding the weather conditions. During this period, hikers and tourists going to the Himalayan region should take special precautions and people who are traveling should stay in a safe place if the weather is bad, Dahal said.
Keeping in mind the risk of landslides and rains, caution has also been requested while traveling long distances on mountain highways and roads. It has been suggested that those traveling through Prithvi Highway and BP Highway should make travel plans only after understanding the latest weather conditions. Monsoon had completely left Nepal on October 14. After that, the weather remained generally clear, but due to the system developing in the Bay of Bengal, there was a chance of rain and snowfall again. The Weather Forecasting Division has asked to see the latest weather bulletins and information regularly and plan agricultural work, travel and visits accordingly.
