Kathmandu. A man trapped under the rubble of a building destroyed by an earthquake in Venezuela for 8 days has been found alive. Emergency workers rescued Hernan Gil, who was trapped under 140 tons of rubble, more than 100 hours after finding him.
Hundreds of rescuers have been deployed since Gill was found on Saturday. Teams from Venezuela, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Portugal and the United States assisted in his rescue.
More than 2,300 people have been confirmed dead in the June 24 earthquake in Venezuela, and thousands more are still missing. On the night of June 24, earthquakes of 7.2 magnitude and 7.5 magnitude occurred within a few seconds of each other.
