Kathmandu. In the month of June 2026, 91 thousand 363 foreign tourists have entered. According to the data of the Immigration Department released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), there was a 19.5 percent increase in the number of tourists arriving by air in June compared to last year.
This number was 76,425 people who visited Nepal in the same month last year. Similarly, June 2019, which had the highest tourism activity before the Covid-19 epidemic, had 74,883 arrivals. Based on that, there has been an increase of 22.01 percent in the month of June this year.
Among the tourists coming to Nepal in the month of June, 48 thousand 254 people came from South Asian (SAARC) countries. Which is 52.8 percent of the total arrival. Among the main source markets, 41 thousand 809 tourists came from India alone. 16 thousand 152 tourists from other Asian countries have come to Nepal, which is 17.68 percent of the total arrivals. In which 8 thousand 875 tourists have arrived from China, 2 thousand 497 from Japan, 1 thousand 765 from South Korea and 984 from Thailand.
13 thousand 119 tourists from Europe have come to visit Nepal. Among the European countries, 3 thousand 266 tourists came from Britain, 1 thousand 892 from Germany and 1 thousand 267 from France. 6 thousand 954 tourists from America have come to Nepal, which is 7.61 percent of the total arrivals. During this period, 5,237 tourists came from the United States, 1,298 from Canada and 219 from Brazil.
Similarly, 3 thousand 90 tourists have come to Nepal from the Oceania region. This number is 56.35 percent more than last year and 57.17 percent more than 2019. 2,694 tourists from Australia and 390 from New Zealand have come to this region. 674 tourists from Africa and 292 tourists from the Middle East have come to Nepal.
According to Santosh Vikram Thapa, Senior Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, in recent months, there has been a continuous improvement in tourist arrivals due to the expansion of international air links, tourism promotion campaign, promotion in major source markets and the image of Nepal as a safe and attractive destination.
The board has said that it is preparing to conduct more promotional activities in India, China, America, Europe and other major source markets targeting the upcoming tourism season.
