Kathmandu. The Money Laundering Prevention (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083 has been passed in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives. The bill was passed by the majority after the debate on the bill and the reply of Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle.

Answering the questions raised in the discussion on the bill, Minister Dr. Wagle said that there is a need to have a meaningful debate on how to prevent corruption and financial crimes. He emphasized that economic criminal activities should be stopped through extensive discussion, saying that 13 agencies can handle cases related to wealth laundering.

“There is an allegation that the bill was brought with the intention of causing pain to someone by being motivated by bias. This allegation is false. If we misuse an issue like money laundering to fulfill political ambitions, we cannot remove it from the gray list”, he said.
