Janakpurdham. As the parties could not reach an agreement, the meeting of the Madhes Provincial Assembly has fallen into confusion. The meeting of the state assembly called for 1:00 pm on Wednesday was adjourned shortly after it was held due to the opposition party’s disruption.

The main opposition party Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Nepal and Janmaat Party blocked the meeting, demanding to amend the appropriation bill for the next financial year 2083/84 presented by the provincial government on June 1, 2083/84.

On the initiative of Speaker Ram Ashish Yadav, the leaders of the ruling party and the opposition party have been holding discussions since Wednesday to conduct the blocked meeting, but the meeting has been thrown into confusion. Basuprasad Koirala, Secretary of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, informed that the discussion on conducting the meeting on a regular basis is ongoing and after the agreement, the meeting will be conducted.

At the beginning of the meeting held on Wednesday, the Speaker Yadav adjourned the meeting for 10 minutes after the provincial assembly members of both the opposition parties took a stand that the government had allocated the budget in small and piecemeal schemes while ignoring the issues announced by the government through its own policies and programs and that the opposition was discriminated against in the budget and that the meeting would not be allowed to proceed until the amendment was made.

Madhes state government has allocated a budget of Rs 41 billion 1386 million for the next financial year 2083/84. Yuvraj Bhattarai, Minister of Finance of the Madhes State Government, presented a budget of Rs 41.13 billion 86 million rupees in the meeting of the State Assembly for the coming fiscal year 2083/84, giving priority to agricultural innovation, promotion of entrepreneurship, education, and health.
