Kathmandu. The National Academic Calendar developed by the University Grants Commission has been developed and implemented to make the educational activities of higher education organized, planned and effective.

In order to make the academic activities of the universities integrated and based on the calendar, the commission has implemented the national academic calendar in coordination with the universities.

The Ministry of Education and Sports on Tuesday approved the new national academic calendar after revising the National Academic Calendar Report, 2080, which was previously approved and implemented through a ministerial decision. In addition, a decision has been taken to issue a circular to all universities through the University Grants Commission for the necessary implementation, according to the ministry.

The commission believes that with the implementation of the integrated national academic calendar, there will be a big leap in the reform of university education.

In item number 87 of the agenda of the government regarding governance reforms, the goal was to release the results of the undergraduate and postgraduate examinations from the universities according to the calendar provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. It was implemented by the Ministry of Education and Sports through the University Grants Commission.

The calendar will be implemented in accordance with clauses (d), (e) and (f) of sub-section (1) of section 6 of the University Grants Commission Act, 2050. In addition, necessary subjects will be included in accordance with the Essential Services Operation Act, 2014 and instructions will be given to the university for implementation through the Commission for Necessary Implementation.

According to the Deputy Director of the Commission, Ramesh Prasad Adhikari, along with the implementation of the revised national academic calendar, the academic activities including admission, teaching, examination, publication of results in universities will be conducted according to the scheduled schedule.

Earlier, the educational calendar prepared by the commission was approved and implemented by a ministerial decision on August 29, 2080. The Commission formed the Academic Calendar Revision Committee to meet the changing educational needs and timely reforms.

Based on the decision and recommendations of the committee dated 12th June 2083, necessary amendments were made to the calendar and the proposal was sent to the Ministry for approval.
