Janakpur. The Madhesh state government has brought a budget of 41 billion 1386 million for the financial year 2083/84. This amount is 13 percent less than last year. Finance Minister Bhattarai presented the budget in the meeting of the Madhesh Pradesh Assembly held on Monday. In this year’s budget, agricultural production, education, health and employment have been given first priority.

Main aspects included in the budget

2 billion 44 crore rupees have been allocated for the development and promotion of industry, commerce and tourism sector. Similarly, Madhes state government has increased the salary of employees by 10 percent. Madhes state government has also announced ‘Digital Madhes Decade’ for the years 2026 to 2036.

The provincial government has prepared to conduct a yoga and meditation campaign in schools and public places to reduce the increasing drug addiction and mental health problems. Likewise, the government of Madhesh province is going to conduct all the development works of the next fiscal year in an open and competitive manner to maintain transparency and cleanliness in the development works.

The Madhesh state government is going to build a Madhesh religious circuit by connecting Janaki Temple in Janakpurdham, Gadhimai in Bara, Parsa Wildlife Sanctuary in Parsa, Chinnamasta in Saptari, Rauja Mazar in Mahottari and Shivnagar in Rautahat. In the financial year 2083/084, it has adopted a policy of focusing investment on large and result-oriented projects rather than small and scattered projects.

With the aim of making expenditure management more effective, it has been announced that no budget allocation will be made for schemes costing less than one crore rupees and a ban on the purchase of new vehicles.

The Madhesh state government has now adopted a policy of completing projects under construction rather than new ones. In order to strengthen the marketing of the agricultural sector, the plan to build an agricultural corridor and to build an alternative bridge over the Kamala River has also been put forward.
