A memorandum of understanding has been signed today between the Taking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN) and IBL Company Limited, a South Korean technology company, with the aim of making trekking and mountain tourism predictable, risk-free and safer through artificial intelligence (AI)-based tracking and evaluation system using Aztrek Digital Safety System.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by General Secretary Sonam Galgen Sherpa on behalf of the association and Su Do Kim, Chief Executive Officer of IBL on behalf of the Korean delegation.
According to the memorandum of understanding, in collaboration with IBZ and related Korean organizations, through the use of smart software technology, risk forecasting of hikers, guides and support workers, ‘real time location’ identification and rescue operations will be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Department of Tourism, Nepal Tourism Board, local government of the destination area, private sector, research bodies and businessmen and tracking technology will be installed as a test on one of the hiking routes. is mentioned.
Based on the test, the system will be used on a larger scale after taking the necessary permission from the relevant government agencies and providing the necessary orientation and training to the member companies of the association, said Sherpa, the general secretary of TAN.
Lakpa Temba Sherpa, the co-treasurer of the association, who coordinated the program, informed that the company will assist in technical aspects such as installing technology, providing technical training, preparing ‘real time database’ of tourists using AI, and giving early warning about risks. TAN’s Chief Executive Officer Ramchandra Sedhai mentioned that there is a possibility to make hiking and mountain tourism safe, effective and reliable by coordinating with related government agencies, stakeholders in the destination area, TAN’s member companies and technical experts.
