Kathmandu. The Ministry of Education and Sports Technology has nominated four experts in the fields of Information Technology, Industry, Stem Education and Nursing-Public Health as members of the Academic Council of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTTV).

The ministry’s IT and digital policy expert Dr. Amrita Sharma, President of Nepal Industry Confederation Virendra Raj Pandey, co-founder of Karkhana and stem education expert Dr. Dipeshwar Man Shrestha and Pramila Rana, an expert in nursing and public health, have been appointed as council members.

The Academic Council of CITIVITY is the main educational and academic leadership body of the council. It has been playing an important role in curriculum development, approval of new programs, educational quality assurance, evaluation system and long-term policy guidelines of technical and vocational education.

Dr. among the nominated members. Amrita Sharma is known as an active researcher and policy expert in the fields of information technology, digital transformation, digital economy and public policy.

With a degree in information and communication technology, he has conducted significant studies and researches on the development of information technology industry, digital skills, service export and policy reforms. The ‘Unleashing IT: Advancing Nepal’s Digital Economy’ study conducted by the Institute of Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) under his leadership pointed out the possibility of developing Nepal as a major destination for information technology service exports and presented important suggestions on the necessary policy reforms, skilled manpower development and cooperation with the private sector.

Virendra Raj Pandey, President of Nepal Industry Confederation, is an established entrepreneur in the construction, infrastructure and industrial sectors. With an engineering background, he has been leading the construction business, infrastructure development and the private sector for more than three decades. Industry experience is expected to help link technical education more effectively to industry needs, production systems and the labor market.

Similarly, the co-founder of the factory Dr. Dipeshwar Man Shrestha received a degree in STEM Education from Tufts University, USA. In Nepal, he has made a significant contribution to practical learning based on science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, development of professional skills of teachers, promotion of ‘making’ culture and expansion of innovation-oriented education. It is believed that his experience will help to connect CITIVT’s technical education with creativity, research and entrepreneurship.

Pramila Rana, an expert in the field of nursing and public health, has obtained a master’s degree in nursing from India and completed a fellowship in health and social affairs from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Currently working as a clinical coordinator in Nepal Red Cross Society, she previously held the leadership responsibilities of public health, nursing services, emergency response and housing (DHQZ) programs in various national and international organizations including Save the Children, Norvik International Hospital. It is expected that his experience in health and technical education will contribute to the production of skilled manpower in the health sector and the improvement of the quality of practical education.

It is believed that participation of experienced personalities from Information Technology, Industry, Stem Education and Health sectors will provide multi-faceted expertise to the Academic Council of CITIVITY.
