Kathmandu. CPN-UML MP Sajida Khatun Siddiqui has requested the Prime Minister to appear in Parliament and give a clear answer to the questions of the country and the people.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting held on Thursday, MP Siddiqui mentioned that the House of Representatives Rules, 2083 gave every member the right to directly question the Prime Minister and said that this provision would help in making the government accountable, transparent and effective.
Targeting the Prime Minister, she said, “The Prime Minister is not the Prime Minister of the street, but the Prime Minister of the country and the Nepalese people.” He should come to the Parliament and have a clear view on the dignity of the country and the respect of the people. Prime Minister, learn to be serious about the country and the people.
She said that parliamentarians not only warn the government but also play a role in making the government successful and strong, and commented that the government’s accountability to the parliament is getting weaker.
Siddiqui said that the work done by the current government cannot be claimed to be 100 percent successful and accused the government of failing to fulfill the fundamental rights of the people, the right to live with dignity and the goal of ‘Happy Nepali, Prosperous Nepal’.
She said, “Are all the works done by the government 100 percent successful?” Has the fundamental rights of the people been fully guaranteed? From the point of view of an MP, the government does not seem to be moving towards the goal of ‘Happy Nepali, Prosperous Nepal’.
She raised the issue of the ongoing investigation on UML Central Vice President Vishnu Paudel and claimed that it is not appropriate to extend the deadline without sufficient evidence. She also questioned whether the government can take responsibility for her honor and defamation if no evidence is found.
She said, “It is not appropriate to continue the investigation by extending the deadline without evidence. If no evidence is found, how will the government take responsibility for honoring and defaming him?’
Siddiqui also expressed her displeasure with the Prime Minister’s recent public statements and claimed that those statements were not in the interest of the country.
