Kathmandu. Portugal have entered the last 16 of the World Cup 2026 tournament with a sensational 2-1 comeback win over Croatia. While the game was heading towards extra time, substitute Gonzalo Ramos scored a goal in the fourth minute of injury time with the help of a header.

Ramos scored a beautiful goal off a pass from Rafael Leo. Towards the end of the game, Josko Guardil of Croatia scored a goal, but it was not recognized and it was considered offside. With this, the game ended dramatically.

With this victory, Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo continue to challenge in the competition. Ronaldo was substituted towards the end of the match. After the defeat, Luka Modric played probably his last game for Croatia at the World Cup.

Croatia took the lead in the 53rd minute with Ivan Perisic’s goal. He gave the direction of the post to the cross that Josip Stanisic took out in the box. Soon after, his shot hit the post but it was offside. Similarly, Ronaldo’s goal was also not recognized due to offside.

Ronaldo converted the penalty in the 68th minute of the game. Portugal had a chance to get back into the game after Nikola Vlasic tackled Renato Viega in his own box. Ronaldo converted the penalty into a goal easily.

Ronaldo’s record for Portugal was the 146th goal. Now Portugal will face Spain for the quarter-final entry and this will be the most watchable match of the tournament.
