Kaski. In Kaski, the program of providing incentives to farmers to raise padi and heifers born through artificial insemination has continued this year as well. The government will give cash subsidy to the farmers for rearing Padi bachchi with the aim of increasing the production of cattle at the local level and reducing the import of animals from outside.

Kaski Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Office has requested an application for this. This year, this program will be conducted in all wards of Annapurna rural municipality, said the head of the office, Dr. Grisham Neupane. According to him, under the program, the incentive money will be provided at a maximum rate of Rs.

“One farmer can apply for a maximum of five Padibachchi. According to this, one farmer will get a maximum of Rs 50,000,” said Chief Neupane. A budget of Rs 35 lakh has been allocated for the program. The goal is to provide incentive support to 345 padi and bachchi from this amount.

“If the number of productive cattle can be increased by rearing padibachchi born locally, there will be an increase in milk production and there will be no need to purchase and import cattle from other districts. This will attract local farmers to animal husbandry and also help to increase production and income”, said Neupane, head of the office.

In order to get the incentive money, they must be rearing cattle in the respective rural municipality, rearing calves or calves born from artificial insemination and their age should be one year. Along with the application, the farmer has to submit proof of artificial insemination, animal insurance, identification photo and recommendation of the concerned animal service branch.

According to the office, the program is expected to be effective in improving the breed of animals at the local level, increasing the production and expanding the number of cattle to become self-sufficient in milk production and reduce external dependence.

This program was implemented in Kaski last year. It is said that 99 Korli Padi and 355 Korli Bachchi are eligible to become Hukii Mau. This is expected to produce 1.2 million liters of extra milk in the district next year, said Animal Development Officer Sahdev Paudel.
