Solukhumbu. The flow of the Inkhu River has been blocked due to a landslide in Mahakulung Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu. There is an increased risk that the river may be blocked after mud and stones fall into the river.

According to Chief District Officer Kaman Thapa Magar of Solukhumbu, even though the landslide has occurred, the flow of the river has not been completely stopped so far. He said that there is a risk that the river may be completely blocked as the landslides continue.

According to him, due to the landslide, a general obstruction has been created in the flow of the river. If the landslides occur further, the flow of water is likely to be stopped completely.

On the other hand, Gombu Sherpa, Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of the Koshi Province Government, has said that the Enghu river has become a temporary dam due to continuous landslides under Cherem village located in Mahakulung Rural Municipality-1.

He said that if the temporary dam breaks, the water level and flow may rise suddenly, and he has asked the residents around Inkhu river, Dudhkoshi and Saptakoshi river to be cautious.

According to Minister Sherpa, there is no immediate danger. However, the risk is likely to increase as the region continues to experience heavy rains and landslides.
