Look around. Residents of the lower coastal areas have been asked to be cautious as the Kulekhani Reservoir is about to fill up due to continuous rain.
The water level in the reservoir has reached 1,527.93 meters. The maximum storage capacity of the reservoir is 1,530 meters.
According to Prahlad Raut, head of Kulekhani First Hydropower Station, due to continuous heavy rains in the catchment area, the level of the reservoir is increasing rapidly.
Basant Adhikari, the Chief District Officer of Makwanpur, has asked the residents of the lower coastal areas and riverside areas to be on high alert as the level of the reservoir may exceed 1,528 meters within a few hours.
Also, he has requested to stay in a high and safe place away from the river bank and to follow the instructions mentioned in the notification issued by the project and the SMS received on the mobile phone.
Hydropower Center has issued a warning. Raut, head of the center, told Rasas that when the dam gates have to be opened to keep the reservoir level balanced, a warning siren will be sounded. He has also asked to be careful in using the Deurali-Sisneri road section.
