Kathmandu. The new contract process called for the construction of dams, power houses and related structures of the Sunkosi-Marin Diversion Multi-Purpose Project has been cancelled.
The project issued a public notice saying that the contract has been cancelled. The project called for international tenders for the construction of civil, hydromechanical components and related structures on June 8. The financial proposal for the contract was prepared to be opened next Monday (November 16).
Among the companies participating in the new contract process, three companies were technically qualified. The project itself canceled the bid when they were preparing to open their financial proposal.
In the notice released by the project, it is mentioned that the bid has been canceled according to Section 3(2) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063. The detailed reason for canceling the contract was not disclosed in the notification.
Earlier, the contract with the Raman-Patel joint venture, which was entrusted with the project’s dam and power house construction, was broken. The project decided to terminate the contract on 25th October 2082, saying that there was no expected progress in the work. After that, a new international tender was called for the remaining work.
Meanwhile, Sunkosi-Marin Diversion Multi-Purpose Project Director Engineer Krishna Prasad Rizal and Director General of Water Resources and Irrigation Department Engineer Dinesh Razouria were already detained by the police. They were brought under control from Sindhuli and Siraha respectively and brought to Kathmandu. Later, they were handed over to the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar.
