Gurkha. A pet dog trapped in the Budhigandaki river in Gorkha has been rescued after 20 days. A dog trapped in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-3 Jagat of North Gorkha since last October 25th was rescued on Friday.

Dhading’s rafting team, in coordination with Animal Nepal and Chumanubri Rural Municipality, reached Jagat in Sirdibas and rescued the dog, according to village chairman Nima Lama.

According to him, initially preparations were made to rescue the dog by helicopter. However, due to unfavorable weather, the helicopter could not fly, so the help of the rafting team had to be taken.

The dog, raised by Kamal Karki, a resident of Jagat, was trapped in the Budhigandaki River due to the flood that occurred on October 25. After the flood washed away Karki’s house along with the bridge, the dog was trapped across the river.

According to the local Ganesh Karki, the house owners came across the bridge after getting the news about the flood. Shortly thereafter, the flood swept away both the house and the bridge, leaving the dog stranded across the river. The flood washed away four houses in the area. Some goats were also trapped due to flood. It is said that efforts are being made to rescue them.
