Gandaki The incident of the escape of a prisoner who was serving life imprisonment in Kaski jail for the crime of manslaughter and robbery has raised questions about the security system of the jail.

Santosh Jalari, a 37-year-old prisoner of Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 Khapaudi, escaped by climbing the ladder taken to the prison for electrical repairs on October 31st around 2:00 pm.

Jalari, who escaped from prison, was arrested by the police on October 3 from a hotel in Pokhara. Chief Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Kaski, Naveen Karki, said that the prisoner Jalari had escaped in a planned manner. “It was found that he had escaped by climbing the ladder kept for electricity maintenance, Jalari said during the investigation that he had been planning to escape from the prison for a month,” he said.

Superintendent of Police Karki said that Jalari also runs a shop inside the prison. According to him, Jalari managed to escape because the police assigned to protect the prison and the prisoners did not pay enough attention to Nike. “It was found that he kept the ladder in the place where his shop was and ran away in the middle of the night because he had to repair the electricity tomorrow,” said Superintendent of Police Karki.

He said that incidents of inmates escaping from prisons like this rarely happen, and he said that this incident has shocked the concerned parties, paying special attention to the security sensitivity of the prisons. Prison jailer Ghanshyam Gautam said that Jalari had escaped only the next morning during the prisoner count. He says that it is natural to express concern and questions about the security system of the prison after the incident of prisoner escape.

Jailer Gautam said that the escaped prisoner was brought under control within two days due to the police’s activity. Jalari was arrested by a joint police team deployed from Gandaki State Police Office and District Police Office.

Superintendent of Police Karki said that he is being investigated by the court for an offense related to the Prison Act. “The sentence of 25 years imprisonment in the murder and robbery case is already in place, in the latest case, the sentence may be five years more,” he said.
