Kathmandu. Ganesh Parajuli, Chairman of the Parliamentary Special Committee on the Impact of Climate Change in the Himalayas, Climate Justice and Bhotekoshi-Trishuli Disaster, said that Nepal’s presentation at COP-31 should have a clear roadmap for justice, opportunity and prosperity.

At the National Climate Conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Chairman Parajuli, who is also the deputy leader of the Parliamentary Party of the Raswap, said that Nepal’s presentation at COP-31 should not be limited to the description of pain and damage, but should have a clear roadmap for justice, opportunity and prosperity.

He emphasized on the need to take strong initiatives to create easy and effective access to climate finance. In addition, he said that the funds committed in the international forum have actually reached/not reached the affected communities and the issue of fair distribution should be emphasized.

He opined that the demand for grant-based support for adaptation, damage-loss response and early warning system should be clearly stated.

Similarly, Parajuli said that the topic of transfer of state-of-the-art technology and development of implementation capacity at the local level should be made the main agenda of the talks. He said that Nepal needs not only outside help to deal with the climate crisis, but also a fair opportunity to increase its own economic strength.
