Kathmandu. CPN-UML leader Gokul Baskota has demanded the dismissal of Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. Baskota, who is also the vice-chairman of the RSVP, has been opposing Wagle’s statement in India a week ago.
Baskota cited Prithvi Narayan Shah’s famous words and criticized Wagle for his anti-nationalism. Without naming Wagle, Baskota has also asked Prime Minister Balendra Shah Balen to remove him from the post.
“He had neither the United Nations nor the university’s Ph.D.,” wrote Baskota, “but Prithvi Narayan Shah tied foreign relations to the formula of Jhiki Cuttack-Jai Cuttack and Duidhunga Tarul.” Now reckless new Lendup jump? Kick out him, PM!’
During his speech at the ‘NDTV World Summit 2026’ held in India on October 6, Wagle said that ‘the era of nationalism linked to anti-India sentiments is over in Nepal’. Various people are protesting Wagle’s statement as anti-national.
