Kathmandu. It seems that Biratnagar Kings have their eyes on the title after signing world famous players like Andre Russell, Charith Aslanka and Angelo Mathews in NPL Season 3.
Similarly, Biratnagar is a team that has been in the limelight since the first season of Nepal Premier League (NPL). The team made headlines in the first season by bringing in players like Martin Guptill and Chris Soule.
In the second season, it increased its hype by bringing players like Faf du Plessis and Marchand de Long. However, the team has not been able to achieve the achievement as discussed. Biratnagar, which was limited to the league stage in the first season, showed an effective form in the second season and made it to the playoffs.
The national players in the Kings team are no less. Under the leadership of ODI national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane, Biratnagar has famous players like Basir Ahmed, Pratish JC, Lokesh Bam.
Dhammika Prasad will handle the training of Biratnagar this time as well. Prasad was the coach of Biratnagar in the second season as well. It seems that the bowling captain of Biratnagar will depend on Sandeep and Pratisam. In two seasons, Sandeep has taken 23 and 18 wickets respectively.
With the arrival of Aslanka, the team’s batting has also become stronger. Aslanka will be supported by Lokesh and Basir as the main batsmen. Basir scored 372 runs and Lokesh scored 312 runs in two seasons.
Andre Russell will remain as the main all-rounder of the team. The team has high expectations from him, who has experience in franchise leagues around the world. Russell will be lethal both in batting and bowling.
It is believed that his performance will have a positive impact on the results of Biratnagar. Similarly, Biratnagar has continued Shubham Ranjane. Last season Ranjane scored 87 runs and took five wickets.
Biratnagar prepared for the NPL in India. Apart from training with the players who played in the Ranji Trophy, there was also a practice match with the local club. The club believes that India’s preparations will lead to an excellent performance in the NPL.
Biratnagar Kings are in search of NPL title. MDM Dreams Sports bought the ownership of Biratnagar for Rs 1 crore 51 lakh. The team owners have invested in foreign players with an open heart this year as well. The result of that remains to be seen.
