Kathmandu. The US Department of Defense has prepared to close the Confucius Institute, which teaches Chinese language and culture, as a serious threat to national security.
American Defense Minister Peter Hegseth has accused these organizations of working as Chinese propaganda centers. Through a public video on social media, Hegseth said that dozens of such centers have been established in different universities in the United States under different names. According to him, the purpose of those organizations is to steal intellectual property and influence the opinion of American students.
Hegseth also said that the Ministry of Defense is working rapidly to systematically close down these centers. The Chinese embassy in Washington has not yet given any official response on this matter.
