Kathmandu. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has announced that the preparations for the third edition of the Siddharth Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL) have been completed.

In a press conference at the TU Cricket Ground on Sunday, Can said that the preparations for the NPL, which will start on Monday, have been completed. According to CAN, the winner of the third edition of the NPL will receive Rs 15 million, the runner-up Rs 8 million, the third runner-up Rs 4 million and the fourth runner-up Rs 3 million.

According to the advice of the NPL Governing Council and the agreement of the CAN President, the prize amount of the third edition has been increased greatly, CAN Treasurer Padam Khadka informed.

Khadka said that about Rs 20 crore was received from the main sponsor alone in this edition. He said that the total business with sponsorship, ticketing and ticket partners will be worth Rs 70 to 75 crore. He mentioned that if the expenses incurred by the team owners are included, the total turnover of NPL will reach Rs 150 crore in a month.

In a press conference, CAN Secretary Paras Khadka said that because there is a legal provision that foreign players must obtain a no objection certificate from their respective cricket boards, CAN is continuously coordinating with the respective boards.

He mentioned that the league stage matches of NPL will end on November 15, and informed that the players of the 4 teams who are not selected in the second stage will form a team of ‘Rising Stars’ and participate in ODI practice and matches.

Eight teams will participate in the third edition of NPL. This edition has been recognized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Also, CAN said that the DRS system will be implemented for the first time in the competition.
