Kathmandu. The Coordinator of Nepali Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has appealed to the Nepalese general public to actively participate in the National Awakening Campaign.
Mentioning that the country is going through a complex political, economic and social crisis, he said that he is going to conduct a campaign to protect national independence, protect democracy and people’s rights and solve the problems of people’s livelihood.
CPN has decided to conduct National Awakening Campaign from today till 25th of November.
In the appeal, it has been mentioned that frustration, dissatisfaction and confusion have increased due to the failure of the current government to deliver results as per the expectations of the people. The party has said that the issue of people’s livelihood will be given priority by saying that inflation, unemployment and youth migration are increasing and farmers, workers, entrepreneurs and businessmen are facing various difficulties.
Similarly, the party has also expressed concern about intolerant behavior towards different opinions, tendency to restrict freedom of expression and interference on democratic institutions, trade unions, student organizations, private sector and civil rights. It has been claimed in the appeal that such trends have created a threat to the achievements of the federal democratic republic, proportionality, inclusiveness, secularism and the constitution.
During the campaign, under the leadership of the central leaders of the party, they will reach villages, wards and tolls and directly communicate with farmers, workers, youth, students, women, Dalits, tribal tribes, Madhesi, Tharu, minority communities, intellectuals, teachers, employees and entrepreneurs. According to the party, facts and experience will be collected about the problems related to high prices, unemployment, black market, corruption, economic insecurity, delays in public services, problems of squatters and workers and difficulties related to foreign employment, while opposing despotism and anarchy.
It is also mentioned in the appeal that the complaints and suggestions received from the public should be forwarded to the relevant local, state and federal agencies, demand letters and memorandums should be submitted as needed and continuous initiatives should be taken for solutions. According to the party, the practice of keeping a record of complaints and informing the people about the progress of efforts to resolve them will also be promoted.
Likewise, the Nepali Communist Party has objected to the loss of life and property caused by the devastating flood in Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi and the negligence seen in the search, rescue and relief operations of missing citizens. Mentioning that protecting the lives of citizens during disasters is the first responsibility of the state, the party demanded that the search and rescue of missing citizens be made effective by utilizing the available resources, skilled manpower and modern technology to the maximum.
The attention of the government has also been drawn to provide immediate relief to the disaster victims, safe rehabilitation of displaced families and speedy reconstruction of damaged structures including roads, water supply, bridges, communication and electricity. The party has requested to carry out the relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction work in a transparent, effective and timely manner after assessing the actual damage of the flood-affected areas.
Prachanda explained socialism not only as a slogan but as a goal to end economic inequality and exploitation, establish respect for labor and ensure fair access to education, health and employment. He said that a self-sufficient economy should be built through increasing national production, modernization of agriculture and industry, job creation, development of national capital and fair distribution of resources.
It is said that along with the campaign, party membership renewal and updating, organizational adjustments, work division and party unity will be completed at the grassroots level. Prachanda also asked the party leaders and workers to approach the people humbly, accept criticism and correct their weaknesses.
