Bhojpur. The mixed hills of the hilly terrain are made of golden rice fields.
As Dasai has entered the main season of paddy harvesting, farmers are now busy sharing the joy of the festival with their families and relatives. Sangita Khadka, a farmer of Bhojpur Municipality-6, says that as soon as the Dasain Tika-Jamrar is finished eating, the chataro of paddy threshing begins.
With the beginning of the month of October, the environment here has become beautiful after the paddy, which is the main food crop of the hilly areas, has ripened and turned yellow. Farmers say that due to favorable weather, timely monsoon and adequate irrigation, paddy production is expected to be better this year than in the past.
Bhimsen Phuyal, a local farmer of Bhojpur Municipality-5, said that the early paddy has enhanced the beauty of the village houses and the hills. Phuyal, the farmer, informed that after the end of the festival, they will reach the field and start cutting paddy, tying the bags, threshing and storing the paddy.
He said that after the festival, the work of paddy storage will be started by performing “armparm” which is traditionally done in the village. Farmer Phuyal says that there is a tradition of harvesting and bringing in rice together with family members and neighbors in the steep fields where machinery tools are not easily accessible.
He said that he will be assured after the main food crops of the year are well brought home.
