Kathmandu. Apple’s first foldable smartphone ‘iPhone Duo’ is available for sale in the world market. Although the consumer’s attraction towards this phone, which has a starting price of more than 2000 dollars, is high, due to limited production, the company is facing a challenge to supply according to demand.
The iPhone Duo, which went on sale from Friday, is now available at Apple’s official stores around the world. Customers who have pre-ordered have also started receiving the phone. However, due to high demand and limited stock at the initial stage, some customers who want to get their hands on the phone on the first day have to wait outside the store for a long time.
In recent years, when Apple products were released, the long lines seen outside the stores were getting smaller. Online ordering, home delivery and the system of picking up goods from the store by specifying a time had reduced such a crowd. However, due to the limited advance supply of the iPhone Duo, this time, a line of customers was again seen outside the Apple store.
At Apple’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York, USA, dozens of customers who had not pre-ordered by Thursday evening were standing in line hoping to purchase the phone. A similar scene has also been seen in various places in Asia and Australia. The company has provided a limited number of phones for customers who want to purchase from the store.
The phone’s delivery date has been pushed back shortly after the pre-orders opened due to demand not being able to keep up. Some customers will have to wait until January 2027 to get the phone. The situation of having to wait for such a long time for delivery was rarely seen in Apple’s products in recent years.
According to the storage capacity of the phone, its price has reached 3 thousand 199 US dollars. Duo is seen as the biggest design change in almost two decades long iPhone history. Although Apple is not the first company in the foldable smartphone market, he expects to challenge competitors based on attractive design, user experience and integration with their own systems.
The initial demand for the iPhone Duo is seen as a positive sign for the company in the context of the lack of market response as expected when Apple’s Vision Pro headset was released. This time the demand is more than the supply, reminding the scene when the iPhone was released in the past.
However, the use of complex technology in production has made it difficult to facilitate supply. Due to the advanced capture system and new display technology used in the phone, the manufacturing process is complicated. Moreover, its production is being done only in limited factories in China. Although Apple has expanded the production of the traditional iPhone to India, the production of the Duo has not been able to expand.
