Agency. A strange incident has come to light regarding the relationship in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, India. A woman carrying a child in her arms along with her husband went to marry her own brother-in-law under the Chief Minister’s Group Marriage Scheme.

This incident came to light during the examination of the applications received for the group marriage scheme. When the authorities asked for proof of legal divorce, the woman showed the panchayat decision written on a plain paper. She said that she did not like her husband and took the stand of marrying her brother-in-law.

The husband who came with the woman also said that her statement was correct. He claimed that the Panchas sat and divorced him a few days ago because he liked his brother and not himself. Both submitted divorce papers written on plain paper, but the authorities refused to legalize them.

According to officials, 220 online applications were received for the group marriage scheme. Among them, 149 eligible couples were married on October 25. During the examination of the application, four-five applications that could not submit the legal divorce certificate were cancelled.

According to District Social Welfare Officer Neelam Singh Chauhan, one of the rejected applications was a woman who wanted to marry her brother-in-law without legally divorcing her husband.
