Kathmandu. Nepal has been exporting food worth billions of rupees annually for foreign dogs and cats.

According to the customs department, most of the exports are to America. During this period, America alone has exported food worth 1 billion 28 billion 84 lakh 44 thousand rupees.
Similarly, during this period, Canada has exported food worth 135 million 95 thousand rupees, while in the UK food worth 2 million 44 million 69 thousand rupees has been exported from Nepal.
Japan also seems to have spent crores of rupees in Nepal for dog and cat food. During this period, Nepal has exported food worth 1 crore 88 lakh 82 thousand rupees to Japan.
Similarly, dog and cat food has been exported to Brazil, Singapore, UAE, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, Greece, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Thailand, Qatar, Maldives, Spain, Germany and Lebanon.
