Kathmandu. The Nepal Engineers Association has objected to the arrest of Engineer Dinesh Razouria, Director General of Water Resources and Irrigation Department and Engineer Krishna Prasad Rizal, Director of Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Multipurpose Project, by the police.

The association has issued a press release expressing serious disagreement with the action taken without publicizing the official reason and legal basis of the arrest.

In the statement, it is mentioned that while respecting the rule of law, the legal process and the fundamental rights of individuals, the established legal procedures and necessary grounds should be fully followed while arresting anyone. The association is of the opinion that the arrest made without any basis and reason has raised questions about the rule of law and professional dignity.

The association has demanded that the legal basis and reason for the arrest should be made public immediately and the human rights and legal rights of both the arrested engineers should be fully guaranteed.

Similarly, the association has also drawn the attention of the relevant bodies to adopt a fair, transparent and lawful investigation process according to the prevailing law.
